1.The bus has been consistently late all week so I'm not looking forward to standing in the 35 degree heat this afternoon waiting for it.
2.The bus has been steadily late all week so I'm not looking forward to standing in the 35 degree heat this afternoon waiting for it. |
1. Which is correct?
2. Could you tell me the difference between the meaning of 'consistently' and 'steadily' with some examples?
Thanks. |

Consistently is the word you want.
Steadily means at an even rate or pace.
The tortoise walked steadily on while the hare ran this way and that, stopped for a rest and arrived too late.
Consistently means marked by harmony, regularity, or steady continuity : free from variation or contradiction, reliably.
Although she was poor she consistently came to class with a smile on her face. |
