Quote:
Fans hold players to extremely high "battle" standards when they are wearing the team uniform. For this reason, experts often compare sports to war. Fans see players as soldiers who ought to risk everything to fight for our honor. Therefore, a cheating team may be seen as an embarrassment because if caught, it will look bad to others. However, few oppose cheating because it is immoral.

So it's not such a far stretch to say that fans don't care how their teams win. Even if they play dirty, the most important thing to a sports fan is the glory of victoory.

2.What does 'stretch' in the bold part mean?

It refers to the infinitive phrase "to say that fans don't care how their teams win".
Reword the sentence, and you get:
To say that fans don't care how their teams win is not such a far stretch.

From Merriam-Webster:
1 a: an exercise of something (as the understanding or the imagination) beyond ordinary or normal limits <their conclusion seemed like a bit of a stretch>
In other words, it's an idea conclusion that is beyond what you would normally expect.
