Sparky was a loser, and he, his classmates, and everyone else knew it. So he accepted it, and made up his mind early in life that he would accept what appeared not to be good enough.
I don't quite get what the underscored part means.
Does it mean that he accepted that he appeared not to be good enough??
Thanks. |

It means that he would accept things that seemed not to be good enough.
He would accept things that appeared to be mediocre.
It might mean that he had decided not to try too hard, but to be satisfied with average results.
You should note that something that seems not to be good enough is not always what it seems. |
