What does "burn outs" mean??

You do a burnout when you spin your drive wheels while the vehicle stands still. It raises a big cloud of grey smoke. It is supposed to be cool among certain immature individuals.
The only "legitimate" reason to do it is at the start of a drag race, when the drivers do it to heat their tires. This gives them better traction when they are accelerating off the line.
