Dear teachers,
Is it wrong to say my house was stolen yesterday ? Does it mean that someone actually took the whole building and not only the stuff that was in there ?
Best regards,
Hela |

Hello Hela -
Yes, it sounds as though the entire house was whisked away..although possible (?), it seems rather improbable.
How about...something/everything was stolen from my house?
or perhaps...my house was robbed/burgalarized yesterday?
What is the source of your example? Philo |

Yes, you can rob: a safe; a store; a gas (petrol) station; a bank; etc.
Maybe you are thinking of 'mug'? |
