Dear teacher :
I watched the desperate housewives.
Lynette found out Nina had a affair with a gofer, so she threatened Nina to be nice to her. Eventually, Nina fired the gofer, and then Lynette was kind of mad and unbelievable and said "I can't believe you would sink so low"
what "to sink so low" means?
Thank you a lot |

When somebody sinks low or stoops low, it means he or she acts in a low, dishonorable, disreputable, or bad way. "She stoops to conquer" means she does anything necessary to win. You like it when someone is noble and rises above the petty level, but Lynette couldn't believe that Nina did such a bad thing as to -- what? have the affair? fire the guy? _________________ You live a new life for every new language you speak. -Czech proverb |
