| They also say that, if anything, Lee has given South Korea a chance to take the high road and come out on top. |
1.What words or phrases can 'if anything' be replaced with?
2.What words or pharases can 'take the high road' be replaced with?
3.'take the high road' is a common expression among native speakers?
4.What does 'come out on top' mean?
Thanks. |

1. "if anything" can be replaced with "at the very least"
2. "take the high road" can be replaced with the phrase "step up to the plate" (baseball reference meaning "to take responsibility").
3. "take the high road" is a common expression. It means to act morally (what you think is right), ethically (what others think is right), or legally 9what the law says is right).
4. "come out on top" refers to how in a ranking system, the person on the top is usually the best. It means "become the winner". |
