Quote:

#1.
A: How's the weather?
B: It's rainy.

#2.
A: How's the weather?
B: It's raining.

In above quote, what's the difference between #1 and #2?

Thanks.

Rainy is an adjective describing the weather generally. Maybe rain is not falling in your area right now, but it is falling nearby, and it will probably fall in your area soon or sometime today.
Raining means the rain is falling in your area right now.
