Quote:
Romeo too is miserable, and tries to kill himself.
He also tells Romeo to leave before dawn, and make for the city of Mantua, where he will stay until all things in Verona have been settled.

I've found the above sentences on the Internet. In this sentence, I'm not sure why a comma is used before "and"?
Isn't this comma inappropriate as a so-called disruptive comma as in
"They bought two pizzas, but ate only one"?
What do you think? Thanks. [/quote]

Correct. In both sentences the commas are not necessary grammatically but serve only as a dramatic pause.
