| In answer to this dilemma, some struggle on, continually aiming to better themselves so that they might fare well in South Koreas extremely competitive society while others learn to settle for jobs that are less than desirable. |
I think that the bold, 'aiming to better themselves', is grammatically incorrect and instead 'aiming for better themselves' is right.
Could you tell me if I'm right?
Thanks. |

Aiming to better themselves mean intending, trying, or striving to better themselves.
You cannot say aiming for better themselves.
You can say aiming for a better job, or a better salary.
If you aim for (or at) something, the target should be a noun. |
