We camped out in the middle of nowhere last summer.
After checking to the google, I've known that 'the middle of nowhere' means remote place. Right? But there is no explanation about why which i really want to get.
So, please give me something about that.
Thank you. |

Hello!
"Middle of nowhere" is an idiom. It's an expression which means remote--it is not a specific place. It has the added meaning of being away from anything interesting or away from modern conveniences, such as stores, television, restaurants, etc. It can have both a positive or negative connotation, depending how it is used.
Positive example: We love to pack a picnic and hike into the middle of nowhere. It's great to find a place where we can be completely alone.
Negative example: My dad likes to drive without a map, and we usually end up in the middle of nowhere. It takes forever to find our way back.
You will also hear "out in the middle of nowhere" This is the same idiom. Example: Eskimos live beyond the Arctic Circle, out in the middle of nowhere.
Does that help? |
