Hello!
When both are nouns, here is the difference: a supply is something whole, but a supplement is something that is added to make a whole, or to make something better.
Supply: a quantity of something, or the act of providing.
Examples: We like to keep a supply of toilet paper on hand.
A supply of emergency food is recommended in case of an
earthquake or other disaster.
Did you see our new supply of shirts?
Supplement: something that is added to make a complete whole, or to complete a deficiency.
Examples: A vitamin supplement is recommended if you don't eat a
lot of fruits and vegetables every day.
This textbook is terrible. You will need to find other
supplements, if you want the students to learn.
This handout is a good supplement for students who are
trying to learn English.
I hope this helps! |
