I saw #1 in a newspaper. But I think that #2 is correct rather than #1.
Please inform me if I'm right or wrong.

Hello!
See if you can figure out which one is correct, by using the definitions below:
contrast with: to set in opposition in order to show or emphasize differences when compared. Contrast is a verb here.
Examples:
She wrote an essay that contrasted city life with rural life.
The reviewer contrasted Microsoft with Apple conputers.
contrast against: demonstrating difference between things that aren't similar. Contrast is a noun here.
Examples:
The red berries made a vivid contrast against the snow.
That pattern makes a good contrast against the solid background.
Now, look at the two sentences you asked about, and decide which "contrast" is a better choice. It looks like you found the error--Congratulations! |
