Recently, I've found many natives could express variously with some simple words. It'll be great if I am able to do that as a learner, I think. So I began to check them, often short in length but long in explanation, in the dict. for every items.
When I met the word 'FOLLOW' with both meanings:to understand sth;to pay close attention to sth, I made this sentence:
As for her words, he follows but has never followed.
I mean that he does listen to her words carefully. However, he has never been successful in understanding what she said.
I've omitted some words in order to make the sentence more beautiful--I mean to make it like something copied from some classical literature, that I don't know which word to choose.
Is it OK? or really an odd sentence?
What are your opnion and advise?
Thank you. |
