Which one is correct?

Romeo and Juliet's death or deaths?
The death or deaths of Romeo and Juliet?

Could you explain why one should be correct and the other should not be?

You are talking about two deaths, the deaths of two people. If they died in the same accident you could say Romeo and Juliet's accident because there was only one accident, not two. But two people died so there were two deaths.
