The following is my question. Would anyone please paraphrase it? Thanks in advance.
Entertainer, ambassador, and computer software consultantwhen it comes to building a diverse resume, Magnet the Baltimore Zoo polar bear has it down cold.
What does "has it down cold" mean here?
Would anyone give me some more examples? |

What does "has it down cold" mean here?
It means that Maget the polar bear knows how to be an entertainer, ambassador and consultant and is very succesful at it.
"To have something down cold" generally means that you know something very well and are an expert at it.
Would anyone give me some more examples?
I studied a lot for my history exam and now I have it down cold.
Also...often in newspapers and magazines they use "puns" words with double meanings. In this case, they probably used the expression "down cold" because polar bears are from cold climates.
I also have a new voice podcast at culips.com and I would like to use your question about "down cold" in an upcoming episode. I hope that is ok! |
