Please clarify me if the sentence below is correct? And may I ask why or why not? What does exactly �into� mean here??
�There are five persons in the family into which I was born.�

this may not be a satisfying answer, but the simple answer is "by common usage". A family is considered a group, and when you enter the group, we use the preposition "into". For example:
I was born into my family many years ago.
She was in for a lot of trouble when she married into his crazy family. |
