Hi
We take a country as plural or singular...some where I read e.g Qatar has and some where Qatar have.. which one's right?
Is it ok to say for my country that ''she'' has given me a lot etc... She/it?
Thanks in advance |

When talking about the country as a political entity, use singular. Qatar is (singular) a rich country. When you are talking about the people, you can use plural. The citizens of Qatar have (plural) a high standard of living.

Yes when you are being emotional or poetic. It is common to refer to one's home country as a Motherland or Fatherland or Mother Country. |
