Hi, would someone help paraphrase "The accident was hit faulty" in the following sentence? Thanks.

Later that night I was in an accident.

While I was driving home, I was hit by a drunk driver.

The accident was hit faulty, but I was the one who was seriously injured.

This doesn't make any sense. I think it was supposed to be,

The accident was his fault, but I was the one who was seriously injured.

The drunk driver was to blame for the accident, and if there were any justice, he would be hurt from it, not I. But instead, I was the one injured.
