Please help me;
An elderly woman sitting next to me on the train asked me where I was going.
Can I also write....
"An elderly woman sitting next to me on the train asked me where I was going to go"??
Is that grammatically correct and keeping its meaning the same?
Thanks very much. |

It is grammatically correct, but the meaning changes.
Where I was going means what is my destination right now. I am on the train to Beijing so I am going to Beijing to see the Forbidden City.
Where I was going to go means what is my future destination. I am on the train to Beijing but I am going to go to Xian to see the Terracotta Soldiers. |
