I've never heard it said, but if I were reading aloud and came across the word, I would pronounce it NAF-ee-on.
Hope this helps. _________________ You live a new life for every new language you speak. -Czech proverb |

Hi Rae,
In chemistry, a cation (cat-ion) is a positive ion, and an anion (an-ion) is a negative ion. I've also never heard of this ion. But according to wikipedia, it is a type of polymer (large chained molecular compound) that is highly acidic and is used as a catalyst (to assist in chemical reactions). If we were to follow the nomenclature and pronunciation of chemical ions, I would guess that it would be pronounced nafion (naf-ion).
Ion (i-on) is pronounced with a long "i" and "on."
