| When I was reading a book, I met an expression of which I couldnt understand the meaning. "His baggage had baggage." What does this sentence mean? Does this mean "He was in trable"? Could you tell me the meaning? |

If you have "baggage" it's an idiom that means you have something in your life that is an impediment, or obstruction.
For example, it may be something like a criminal record preventing you from traveling freely; an estranged wife, or children from a previous marriage complicating a current romantic relationship.
If the writer says that, "Even his baggage has baggage!" It is a humorous way to say that he has a great amount of "baggage".
Impedimenta, which is the Latin word from which the English word impediment is derived, means "baggage". |
