Dear teachers

I need your help with an English version for ' divorce proceedings(statement/agreement ?). Due to a friend of mine, asking me for help with this sort of thing, I, however, think it's too difficult to me, in particular some special terms involved. That's why I said ' rice07 is in trouble '. Could you help me word the given general meanings for the two points in the following in proper English, for the divorce proceedings. Many many ... thanks!

1. Because there're too many differences existing in the relationship for being a married couple, we, thinking twice, are determined to get a divorce, a better way for us. As of the day for the agreement for the divorce, the relationship for being a married couple is lifted.

2. The female side is willing to end this relationship for being a married couple without any requests.

I don't know if there's any lawyers here who can give you better advice, I can help you with some of the English (having been through it once myself).

We are seeking an uncontested dissolution of marriage based on irreconcilable differences.

I'm not sure what you're asking here. Do you mean the effective date? That would be determined by the courts for when the divorce papers get officially filed and recorded.

The wife seeks no alimony or spousal support.

I'm sorry to hear that!

Yes. What would be your wording for that. I mean, once the divorce papers get officially filed and recorded, the relationship for being a husband and being a wife to each other doesn't exist, and each of them could pursue their next true love. Thanks for your help! Teacher Bob.S.[/quote]

I'm not. My first marriage was a stupid mistake. The divorce freed us both up to go and find someone else who was a much better match.

I'm not sure if there is an official name for it, but we commonly refer to it as the date the divorce is finalized. And it changes based on local laws. For example, in California family law, there is a 6-month minimum waiting period from the time you file for divorce with the state courts until the divorce is finalized (to allow for a possible change of mind?). Until that time, you are both still legally married, just separated.
If you know the date of finalization, you could say:
The marriage will be dissolved and the divorce finalized on XX/XX/XX.
You could make it sound extra official by stating:
In accordance with a petition for dissolution of marriage filed with (city office or court) on August 6th, 2008, the divorce will be finalized on XX/XX/XX.
