This summer we are going to exotic places to see exotic animals and plants.

Exotic has the meaning of foreign and strange, how would you explain the above two?

The place and the wildlife are exotic to you, because you don't live there, but to the people who do live there, they are not exotic.
Exotic means, Strikingly different or colourful, originating in, or characteristic of, a distant foreign country.
