Basically it means open a document. Go into your word processing program and load or open any document. _________________ "It is impossible to speak in such a way that you cannot be misunderstood." -- Karl Popper |

The phrase was found in a distribution contract andd am 100% sure the clause it was in has nothing to do with computers.
Maybe it means the same as "enter into contract" or simply "sign a document"????
TIA,

Ah, if they meant "enter into contract", then they just used bad English (maybe used an on-line translator: English to whatever and back to English that mangled the syntax). _________________ "It is impossible to speak in such a way that you cannot be misunderstood." -- Karl Popper |

The contract the pharse is in was made by an English company which I know personally, and it is highly unlikely there is a mistake here.
So u think I am right by thinking it means "sign a document" or simply whatever has been agreed by both parties must be "made into a document"???
TIA,

You'd be surprised how many native English speaking professionals are actually very poor writers in their native language.
But at this point, I'd need to see the whole sentence or paragraph in context to see what they meant. _________________ "It is impossible to speak in such a way that you cannot be misunderstood." -- Karl Popper |

The Distributor shall forthwith enter into any document with the Company which is the owner of the Trademarks or Tradenames deemed necessary for the recording, registration or safeguarding of the Trademarks. |

Gah! That was horrible. Yeah, I was right. It looks like legalese written by a lawyer with poor writing skills.
It looks like it is saying that the distributor must enter into some kind of contract with the companies that own the rights of the trademarks or tradenames. But each company may have a different form of contract document to be signed (one company might have a standard release, another might have some form of licensing agreement, and so on).
