Hello,

I want to know about the expression "take a lesson."

Let's say you go to a swimming (or piano) class three times a week. In this case is it okay to say "you take a swimming (or piano) lesson"? Or should you say "you take swimming (or piano) lessons"?

Thank you so much for your attention to my question.

If you are taking more than one lesson, then you should say, "I am taking swimming lessons." This means it is an on-going thing. If someone asks you what you are doing tomorrow, you can say, "I am taking a swimming lesson." However you would probably say, in the latter case, "I 've got a swimming lesson."
