Is the word 'self-importance' used among nativespeakers?
If so, what's the difference between 'self-importance' and 'self-confidence'?
Thanks. |

Hello Chan-Seung Lee
According to the Oxford Advanced Learners Dictionary self-important exists as an adjective but I wouldnt regard it as common usage. Pompous is far more common and in informal speech you can say someone is stuck-up. The OALD defines it as follows: "thinking that one is much more important than one really is". Self-confidence as a noun or self-confident as an adjective is common. The OALD defines it as follows: "having confidence in oneself, in ones abilities, etc"
Does that help?
David
