I saw the quote in some English expression book.
Could you tell me in what situation native speakers use it ,preferably with some examples? |
When someone expresses that they are impressed by what you have done well, and you think they will be more impressed by something related you can do better, you can say this expression.
For example:
You are driving your new car, and it rides smoothly at 120 kph, and they say "Wow, it's a smooth quiet ride." You can say "You havent seen anything yet," right before you gun it up to 180 kph.
You are at an air show with a friend. He is impressed by a single airplane doing aerial tricks. You can say "You havent seen anything yet," right before the Blue Angels come out.
In colloquial English, you can also say "You ain't seen nuthin' yet." _________________ "It is impossible to speak in such a way that you cannot be misunderstood." -- Karl Popper |
