I think that 'in every other year should be changed into 'every other year'.
And also, I think 'this class' should be changed into 'in this class'.
Could you tell me if I'm wrong or right?

"Every other year" has a different meaning than "in every other year", so we cannot change the expression. "In every other year" means that it happened in all the other years except this one.
We also do not need to change "this class" to "in this class". They both mean the same thing, but it is alright to not use "in".
