Hi,

Here are the sentences,

I think he'll embrace the challenge and at the end of the day if the guy is good enough after 28 days of training camp (and pre-season), we'll know it and he'll make the team.

Now of course he's got to make the team and he's got to earn their respect so he may get the rookie treatment for the first month of the season.

I would like to know what "make the team� means. I suppose the phrases in two sentences have the same mean. What is it exactly? Any ellipsis here?

Make the team = succeed in becoming a member of the team, usually through difficult competitive try-outs.
