Quote:
1.He was hijacked!
2.The airliner was hijacked by a group of terrorists.
3.Some people think the party has been hijacked byright-wing extremists.

I saw #1 in a book.

According to my dictionary, the definition of the word 'hijack' is to use violence or threats to take control of a plane, vehicle, or ship. So, I think that #2 and #3 make sense but #1 is incorrect because a person cannot be hijacked while something can be hijacked.

Could you inform me if #1 is correct?

Thanks.

It could be used figuratively. If my friends came by my office and whisked me away to a pub, I might say I got hijacked and taken against my will to go have fun.
