Dear teachers,
I have a few questions from watching a comedy that is related to an adventure in a museum. Please let me know the meanings. Thanks.
1.You are funny *for* your friends
2.For crying out loud=For Christ's sake?
3.Hand over fist?
4.Take *look-a-doo* today
Best Regards,
Ms.D |

1. You are funny *for* your friends. Not sure. Can you quote a few more lines before and after this one for context?
2. For crying out loud=For Christ's sake? Yes--a way to avoid using Christ's name in vain (in an unreligious way). Similarly: For Pete's sake (for God's sake); gee whiz (Jesus Christ); gosh darn it (God d a m n it).
3. Hand over fist? When someone makes money hand over fist, he is making lots of money very fast. One hand is full while the other one is held out for more.
4. Take *look-a-doo* today. Not a common expression, but just a silly way to say take a quick look today. _________________ You live a new life for every new language you speak. -Czech proverb |

Funny for your friend.
This line appeared in the funny "Museum" movie. The main actor said that a person who has just tricked the main actor in front of his(the trickster) friends who also seemed to enjoy tricking him. |
