Hi,
I came across 'turning tables round' this morning in a song.
| Quote: |
Now I spend my days turning tables round in Mark's and Spencers
They dont seem to mind
(quoted from Belle and Sebastian's The State I Am In)
|
I surfed on the internet and found different usages that phrase might mean. Here in the song, does it mean the 'I' hanged out there in Mark's and Spencer's for a long time? Am I right? If not, what does it mean?
By the way, what does the blue part mean in the following sentences? Do they both mean 'change'?
1. The staff is friendly and quite fast when it comes to turning tables around.
2.You can totally ignore it or you can try turning tables around to avoid it.
Thank you in advance.

| It may mean that he just pretends to be working by adjusting the tables. Or maybe Marks and Sparks have restaurants in their stores, nowadays. Either way, I think it's supposed to be humorous. |
