Dear Teachers,

Recently, I saw one word "bootalk" which I coould not know what does it mean.I checked the dictionary, and the word is not on it. I know what "book" is and I also know what "talk" is,when they combine together I can not understand.

Therefore, could you please tell me what does "booktalk" mean?

Best wishes,

It sounds like slang. Where did you see it? What was the context?

Dear Bob S.

Thank you for answering. Smile

I saw the word from an article:"I wasnt surprised when my students put booktalks at the top of the list of conditions essential to their engagement as readersfirst, because they expend considerable effort trying to rip the featured titles out of my hands, sometimes before I can finish describing them, but more significantly, because about 90 percent of the titles students name in June as favorite reads of the school year were the subjects of booktalks, mine or theirs."

I guess it means someone help another one to read a book. But I really don't know the exact meaning.

Best wishes,
Candy

It sounds like the author's own made-up word (personal slang, not regular English) for oral book reports or some kind of group discussion about particular books.
