i pray silently, sometimes, in the dead of night, that ancient cry of a poet "Deliver my soul from the sword , and my darling from the power of the dog." Yet I know the death comes to us all, and sometimes comes suddenly.
what does Deliver my soul from the sword , and my darling from the power of the dog." mean? Can you paraphrase it?
Thanks |

It means, "Don't let me be killed in battle and don't let my darling be influenced by the devil."
That's my guess anyway. The Muslims (for one ) equate dogs with the devil.
'I also asked the Prophet as you are asking me and he said the black dog is a devil' [Muslim vol 1 no 1032].
Well, there it is |
