| My boyfriend is very cranky. |
In the above, 'cranky' means 'strange' or 'weird' or 'eccentric'.
According to my dictionary, 'cranky' is a British English.
Then, in America, is the quote wrong?
Thanks. |

| When describing a person, "cranky" means the same as "irritable" in American English. |

| A "crank" is someone with weird or eccentric ideas. "Cranky," the adjective, doesn't have the same meaning. |
