To describe someone as an 'odd duck' is simply to say that they are a little bit strange or eccentric in their behaviour or personality - slightly not normal. It's an informal term and whilst not exactly polite it is not an insult either.
You would not call a mass murderer an 'odd duck' but might use the term to describe someone who is obsessed about washing their hands every ten minutes.
You might also come accross the term 'odd fish' which means exactly the same thing. |
