Hello, teachers!!
(1) Wash your hands with soap and water.
(2) Wash your hands with soap.
Do you need "and water"? I mean, if you wash your hands, you will use water definitely.
Which is better, (1) or (2)? Do you have any reason to think so?

Well, you might also think that washing hands means using both soap and water. It's not wrong as it is, and would also be all right if it just had soap and not water. Sometimes you will hear a parent ask a child, "Did you wash your hands?" When the child says yes, the parent might ask, "Did you use soap?", especially if the child's hands still look suspiciously dirty. _________________ You live a new life for every new language you speak. -Czech proverb |
