Wearing masks and costumes, they often copied other people, animals or supernatural beings, and imitated the desired effect-success in hunt or battle, the coming rain. Eventually, it was separated from religious activities.
what does "effect-success" mean? Shall I write "success-effect" instead?

| This is a punctuation misprint. Instead of a hyphen, there should be a dash, to introduce examples of the desired effects. |
