Dear Teachers,
Would anyone please tell me what the meanings are?
Thanks.
1.
Additionally, I usually don't do private classes during winter or summer vacation because I've got enough work at the language center already. *At another time* I might have even come over to your university and taught you there.
2.
go figure= used to indicate that you think a situation you have described is odd or hard to comprehend (slang)
So, it implies "you go figure it out, it's too difficult for me."
Thanks |

1. Paraphrase: In the past, when I didn't have such a busy schedule, I probably would have come to your school to do the teaching.
2. It's a way to say, "Imagine that," "Can you believe that?", "What do you know?", "Isn't that something?", etc. I think it was more commonly heard in the past than today, and more in the eastern part of the U.S. than the western part.
It's a little bit ironic, as if to say, Well, I didn't expect to hear that. You would have to do some work to figure it out. _________________ You live a new life for every new language you speak. -Czech proverb |
