I would not recommend comedy tv series - as often the dialogues are not realistic or else they rely on a knowledge of that culture to understand the humour. I think that dramas are the best way to learn English. (Before anyone comments that these shows are also unrealistic - I am only referring to the language used in them.) Crime shows such as CSI - while they may be interesting can have a lot of job specific language , Recently i am interested in this kind of language. i think it's cool. Know about about CSI on www.dvdcollects.com.

In American, almost all TV series are made for commercial profit. A higher audience rating is the producers first aim. A TV series with low audience rate cant go on season by season. Furthermore,it will end after the first episode were shown.
but meanwhile, besides its commercial profit, i think its a better way to waste your spare time. And also it will creat a long dream for you.

I agree that comedies can be a challenge. Each country has its own type of humor. For Americans, British humor is often considered more sophisticated and less ridiculous.

One of the best ways to learn a language is to watch the news and weather. Because there are pictures or videos, you can tell what the topic is, and it's easier to follow along. The same is true with weather. You can practice listening skills, and keep up with current events at the same time!
