A. peace B. silence
The answer given is B. But i think A is also right. Am I right?
There stood a German officer who had won the Iron Cross,the highest honor for bravery.He _____ it off his own uniform and placed it on the American,who walked back to the American trenches.
A. took B. pulled
The answer given is B. But I think A is also acceptable. Am i right?

You are correct that either word fits and is grammatically correct.
Although one of the meanings of peace is silence and tranquility, in the context of war, silence and peace are very far apart.
In the second sentence, took and pulled work equally well, but pulled is a little stronger. |
