The caller greeted her in careful English and then introduced himself as presenting an international association.

Why does the author use "presenting" instead of "representing" in this sentence? Or rather, what does the sentence mean?

Thanks

Hi!

The caller greeted her in careful English and then introduced himself as presenting an international association.

You're correct, it should be "representing"--good catch!

It means that when a woman answered the phone, the caller spoke in a precise, rehearsed manner. He claimed to be a representative of some international organization.

One of the meanings of the verb to present is "to formally introduce something". In that sense you can use present here.
