Please help me with the question.
In this sentence, "Thank you so very much for coming today," what does "so" mean here? Does "so" mean "very" or "extremely"? May I put it this way, "Thank you very much for coming today" or "Thank you so much for coming today"? Do these sentences have the same meanings?

Hello,
"Thank you so very much for coming today."
You are correct: so means the same as very. It would be the same as saying, "Thank you very, very much for coming today." By using both, we are emphasizing our thanks.
It would be more usual to use just one of them:
"Thank you so much for coming today."
"Thank you very much for coming today." |
