In the above, what does the word 'save' mean and what words can it be replaced with?
Thanks. |

Hi!
You should save your absolute, no-compromise positions for health and safety issues, such as drug use or reckless driving, and consider everything else somewhat negotiable.
In this sentence, "save" means to conserve or keep as they are, without any changes. The author is saying that the things that are most important, such as health and safety issues, should be protected or safeguarded. Everything else could be negotiated, changed, or modified.
Another way to write this:
"You should keep your absolute, no-compromise positions..."
or
"You shouldn't change your absolute, no-compromise positions..."
or
"You should hang onto your absolute, no-compromise positions..."
Does that help? |
