Hi
Some authentic might be lost in translation.
inaugurate verb ~ somebody (as something): to introduce a new public official or leader at a special ceremony
I think if you have an English-English dictionary(the definitions for a word are in English but not using your native language to elaborate them), you'll figure it out, since a new public official or leader is to be inaugurated as ... at a ceremony. Hence (2) is correct.
(2)Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert is having a summit talk with President Bush at the White House today, in what will be the two leaders' first round of talks since Mr. Olmert was inaugurated (as Israeli Prime Minister) this month. |
