W: Hi, Chuck. Looks like you're headed off again. Where to this time?
M: Yes, Hawaii. Two weeks on the beach! |
1.What's the meaning of 'you're headed off' in the quote?
2.Does 'Looks like' mean 'It looks like' in the above?
3.Can it be possible to replace 'you're headed off' with 'you headed for' so as to mean the same meaning?
4. I think it's not proper for the man in the above to use 'Yes' in this situation because 'Yes' is an answer to 'Do you ...?'. Please tell me if I'm wrong.
Thanks. |

Here is a paraphrase:
W: Hi, Chuck. It seems to me that you are leaving / going somewhere again. Where are you going this time?
M: Yes, I am going somewhere, Hawaii. Two weeks on the beach!
1. Means going somewhere, headed somewhere.
2. Yes.
3. No, unless you make it, "Looks like you're headed for somewere again."
4. In this case, "Yes" is fine, since it's answering the first implied question, "Are you going somewhere?" _________________ You live a new life for every new language you speak. -Czech proverb |
