We could, for example, become far better at judging threats before disasters strikes. We have technological advantages that our ancestors lacked, and we know where disasters are likely to occur. And yet we construct city skyscrapers in dangerous areas. We rely on a network of faraway suppliers like power much more heavily than necessities like warmth and food.
What does " We rely on a network of faraway suppliers like power much more heavily than necessities like warmth and food. " mean?
Thanks |

It says that we depend on stuff that comes from a long way off (like power, which comes from a distant generating station) more than we depend on food and warmth.
It is rubbish - try eating power when you are hungry. |

Just because he is a writer does not mean that he is correct. Perhaps he has just phrased the sentence carelessly, or has been doiing corrections to his text and not noticed that he has changed the meaning of his original piece. |
