1.Do you understand what I said just before?
2.Do you understand what I said before?
3.Do it right now like before.
4.Do it right now just like before.
5.Do it right now as before.
6.Do it right now just as before.
7.Have you ever been abroad before? |
I made the sentences, #1 through #7, to want to know the usage of 'before'.
Could you tell me which is right or not?
If there is something wrong, would it be possible for you to correct it?
Thanks. |

I think the only problem is with the seventh sentence. 'Have you ever' means 'in your life', which is everything until now. Everything until now has a similar meaning to before, so the meaning is repeated.
With regards to the other sentences, they seem okay grammatically, but are a little bit strange semantically, especially sentences 3,4,5 & 6.
I understand that you were probably just trying to find example sentences to fit the structure you were questioning into.
In future, you might want to use a concordance website to give a better context. It may also answer your questions too.

It gives you real examples of spoken and written English from a very large database. You can check any collocations on it and any phrases you're unsure of. |
