Please help me the following question.
In this sentence, LOHAS stands for lifestyles of health and sustainability. can I use "means" rather than "stands for"? What is the difference between "mean" and "stand for"?
Thanks a lot. |

I think you should use "stand for".
LOHAS is an acronym. Acronyms stand for something until, like laser they become accepted as words that mean something.
In the case of laser you can say it "stands for" light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation)
It means:- a device that generates an intense narrow beam of coherent monochromatic light by stimulating the emission of photons from excited atoms or molecules. |
